How to Ascend the Leagues of Clash of Clans

Have you ever wondered how to get to the elite Champion League in Clash of Clans? Are you looking forward to the high loot bonus that basically pays for your army? Then, you are in the right place. This will explain how to become stronger in Clash of Clans.

Method 1
Becoming a Stronger Player

1. Upgrade your defenses and traps.
- Build every building available to your Town Hall Level.
- Try to upgrade every building as much as possible before upgrading the Town Hall.
- Although more builder's huts are important, they are not as necessary for your overall defensive strength.
- Try to find or make a good base design.

2. Upgrade your troops and spells as much as possible. This requires elixir or dark elixir. Upgrades for troops are available through the Laboratory (Town Hall 3 and higher). Focus especially on units that you use.
- Upgrading troops that you rarely/never use are not as important, but would be good to upgrade since your attack style may change.

3. Upgrade army camps, barracks, and your Clan Castle. Rebuild the broken building with 40,000 gold. This may seem a lot at the beginning of the game, but eventually it seems like nothing. This is possible at Town Hall 3 or above.
- Upgrade army camps for larger attacks.
- Upgrade barracks to be able to make more units ahead of time.
- Upgrading barracks also allows more storing/banking elixir in the building.
- This is done when you have a full army camp and you make more troops; the unit should say stopped and exclamation marks appear above the building. You can refund the elixir by tapping the red minus box for the troops.
- You must cancel troops before donating or attacking; otherwise they will fill the empty spots.

Method 2
Practicing Attacks

1. Find an attack suitable to your skill, Town Hall level, and needs. Some players are better at hit an run attacks (quick and cheap to make). Some players are better at large scale attacks (slow to make but powerful).
- Have a goal before attacking: gold, elixir, and dark elixir.
- Go for targets that have enough of the resource you want, and the resource that is easy enough for you to get.
- Don't just go for the ones with a lot of loot available; it needs to be within your power to get them.
- Accept failure. Learn from mistakes to improve your strategy (this will also help make you better for war).

2. Watch replays, both defensive and offensive. Notice where things went right or wrong. Watch other people's attacks; notice their army composition.

Method 3
Farming

1. Lose on purpose defensively. This is more effective for the higher Town Hall levels (not recommended below Town Hall 5). It is especially helpful for Town Hall 7 and up. While some players do this for easier targets, you can do it to avoid losing resources.
- Put your town hall to the very corner and storages into the center, protected.
- The goal of this is to have people snipe your Town Hall, give you a 12 hour shield, thus protecting your from massive attacks.
- At higher Town hall levels, losing a few thousand in gold and elixir is basically nothing, especially compared to what you will earn by collectors in 12 hours.
- You can easily earn your trophies back when you decide to stop farming.
- By having lower trophy count, there will be weaker enemies to attack you, which means that it is less likely to lose a lot of resources, making it easier to have a lot to use for upgrading.

2. Lose on purpose offensively. This can help you go lower in trophy count and farm faster.
- Do not do this if you have a big shield.
- If you have a barb king and/or archer queen, just use one of them, and exit battle.
- If you do not have one of the heroes, just use a single small troop, like a barbarian.
- The other player will feel happy and might attack you back, just to take your Town Hall, giving you a 12 hour shield to just relax and collect.

Method 4
Learning from Other Players

1. Ask talented members of your clan for tips.
- Review their bases. Look at their base, you will also see their trap placement.
- Have them show you replays. Show your replays and ask for feedback.
- Ask for their army compositions.

2. Watch people on YouTube. Notice their attacking style. Listen to their commentary and try their army compositions.

Method 5
Being Patient

1. Do the steps above with patience. Farming requires sacrifice and patience. The game is not meant to be completed in a short amount of time, it is one that you can go back to over a long period of time.

2. Have a big goal in mind. Make a general plan of what you are going to upgrade, how you will get the resources, and when you will do them. Stick to the goal.
- Ask clan-mates their thoughts on it, and be willing to change your plan if they offer a better one
- Recognize and remember that the best players did not rush the game; they took their time, played a lot, and have a ton of experience.
